An Itchy Sort Of Day

It's always more interesting to catch birds doing something other than staring into space. Of course, photos with the bird's head buried under a wing might not work either. Today, it seems was a preening day, at least for these two. A great horned owl and a great blue heron. A great day!

Also saw sandhill cranes. I think the owl is a juvenile because he was crying out rather than hooting. Maybe calling for a parent or sibling.
