A tale of two lakes

A tale of two lakes : it’s like asking you to choose your favourite child…. This is mine ( Moraine )

First Lake Louise the iconic image reached via a hike from the village. It was a frosty but beautiful morning and the trail was gorgeous but a slight sense of unease as we were the only walkers , lots of singing and clapping to warn off the bears…

We arrived as the sun touched only half, glacier covered mountains towering above and walked along the lake side marvelling at the scenery.
The further we went the less busy it was, once we’d passed those only there for the ‘Gram. The return walk was much more comfortable: down hill and busy , back to the hotel for a picnic in the sunshine .

This afternoon Lake Moraine, a glacial phenomenon: reached by shuttle bus from the hotel as it’s about 12km out of town, uphill all the way and no private transport allowed.
Our driver suggested we climb Rockpile for a first view and we’re so glad we did. Blue doesn’t do it justice ; again no editing and with the sun high in the sky , amazing sparkle.
We walked along the edge enjoying the sunshine again. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather :)
