Campus

This is the best time of year to be on the university campus. The flowers are amazing right now. This was on my walk to Hoyt Hall to hear my friend, Amy give her talk.
It was very interesting. The first part was talking about vovelles, an ancient way of using flat circles attached together along with a lot of mathematics to navigate. Here is a Wikipedia link because it's hard for me to describe these accurately. She did a terrific job of tying these to the Shakespeare play, The Tempest. Mostly in a symbolic sense. Now, since I've never read The Tempest and am not an English major, I will not further describe her talk but it was very interesting and she is a brilliant researcher.
There are two fires burning north and south in our county. They are not close to town or my mom but the air is smokey. We are supposed to get rain tomorrow so I hope that helps.
