Calamine

I think I have a fungal skin infection which is afflicting my ability to chill out of an evening without incessant itching. The above mentioned lotion is a godsend, for the approximately ten minute period during which it causes itching to abate.

However, the show must go on, and three nights in my own bed is deemed long enough between trips. I joined some colleagues and visitors who we organised to travel from Mozambique, and we all journeyed together to Dodoma in central Tanzania. The giraffe emblem of Air Tanzania was looking lovely in the sunset light on the runway in Dodoma.

We’re being accommodated at the fairly dilapidated hotel I stayed at when I made a swing through Dodoma during Christmas holiday explorations in 2022. It has delusions of grandeur. There’s a nightly turn down service, yet the doors and windows don’t lock. There’s an infestation of mosquitoes and the wooden walkways feel decidedly like one could fall through them. The Mozambican contingent were unimpressed with the mosquitoes. I hope this hasn’t caused damage to bilateral relations as we’re here for three days to discuss technical collaborations across the transboundary landscape that the countries share.
