Hovercraft

This was the Hovercraft arriving at Ryde today as I was waiting for the catamaran back to Portsmouth. 
The Hovertravel service crosses the Solent from Southsea to Ryde many times daily. It takes 10 minutes. 
Hovertravel describe themselves as the only year-round operator in the world.
Ironically the hovercraft was invented by Sir Christopher Cockerell who spent time living on the Isle of Wight.
