Judo Injuries
Today has been a very strange day. It was arranged that I would take Victoria to school, but then her Dad took her as he was catching a later train to London. Victoria saw her GP yesterday, who is also a paediatrician and he has said that her knee should be strapped and crutches used for two more weeks; then go back to him if it is not better. Addenbrookes, where she visited A and E twice, said no strapping and crutches for two days.
Originally I was not collecting Victoria at lunch time as this is the last school day before the holidays and her Mum does not work on Fridays. However, Oliver, also known as Mr Glass and the Six Million Dollar Man, managed to get his nose broken at judo last night; someone's elbow in the wrong place and so his Mum had to take him to Addenbrookes this morning! Oliver and his Mum spent about five hours in A and E and they have sent him home after confirming that it is broken; why I wonder does it take so long just to say, no treatment at this time? He has to go to the ENT Clinic on Thursday.
I also do not have any work now until October when I hope to get another student group. My current group finished their module yesterday and for a day or two it always seems very strange without them. However, the school holidays started today at lunch time and although they are teenagers, I still supervise them, although Oliver will probably be going to work at a summer holiday job and I know Victoria has two parties/sleepovers lined up, so I may not be required as much as usual.
What else could today's blip be, but of the two wounded soldiers? Here you can see Victoria with her strapping on her knee and Oliver, although you cannot really tell from this photograph that his nose is broken; they are sitting in their computer room, just after Oliver arrived home from A and E this afternoon.
Another very hot day although it has not reached thirty-degrees Celsius today; there does appear to be a little more wind and possible the threat of a thunder storm. It is the weekend so time to put the curry in the oven (it is never too hot for curry) and open something: Pimms perhaps?
