Cramond island
Bike ride first thing; out by the West end, and saw several early kilted walkers preparing for Kiltwalk . @Tweedy was doing it too. Lovely calm mild morning, tide well out. Found gulls, oystercatchers, herons, a small flight of turnstones, and mallards at the shore.
The local RSPB group had a stand celebrating their 50th anniversary, along with a competition, well kitted out with long lenses and tripods, as to who could spot the most different species. Talked to the friendly volunteers who had useful hints about bird illustrations.
Out in the afternoon, in a short heavy shower, to Inverleith; two swans and tufted ducks as usual. More than the usual number of inquisitive dogs, though they were all polite. Sky cleared off after the rain and it was warm, 18C.
