Missed opportunity

Earlier this summer my sister in law drew my attention to Balgone Estate’s sunflower maze in August. A photo opportunity I thought!

However, by the time I remembered, looked for a sunny day and tried to book, all the slots were taken. (They open for the maze only at weekends.)

Today our son and I thought we’d get some fresh air and exercise and for a change we’d take the dogs to North Berwick for a walk on the beach. And drive past the estate to see what might still be there.

The (very) large field still had sunflowers everywhere with their seeds ripening but the blaze of yellow had passed. Next year!

Nevertheless, there were still pockets of colour around especially with the wild flower borders. Definitely a future visit.

The beach was good fun but, while one of the dogs did, we did not emulate some hardy souls in swimming.
