Edinburgh Riding of the Marches
I was out with Lothians RAYNET today, providing communication support for the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches event. This is where the ride turns off Frogston Road into the fields. Shortly after this they had their "Cavalry Charge" in the field which was spectacular to watch!
As well as helping organisers track the progress of the ride and ensure road closures are in place at the right time, good communication also helped direct medical personnel where needed (which was sadly several times during the day).
Anyway, it was interesting and rewarding to be involved, and my radio setups and skill proved up to the occasion, which is a relief since the last event I covered with RAYNET was an RAF Leuchars Airshow in the late 90s.
Not the best photo, but I was busy with radios most of the day!
