Museum day
My parents needed a ride to Kangasala to visit their friends. It was a good opportunity to visit Mobilia and Vehoniemi car museums with Jussi. First we went to Mobilia, where the oil can was one of the first exhibits we saw. In the extra a collage of some cars there. In the top row some of prettiest: Auto Union 1000 SP and two Jaguars, XK140 and E-Type. In the bottom row: the oldest, Georges Richard (*) from 1898, the most common in its time, Ford Model T, and one of the rarest, a racing version of Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3, one of less than ten (**) made.
In Vehoniemi, we checked the exhibition (not much new after my previous visit) and had the famous doughnuts and ice cream from their own little factory in the café. The ice cream I had was aptly named "Vehoniemi gearbox oil"!
It rained 9 millimetres more at night, but after a little shower in the morning the day was beautiful. Temperature was just +15°C though.
* ) This one was imported later, when it was believed that the first car in Finland was of the same model, but now it is believed that it was actually a Benz.
**) It has been said that this one, which was owned by magazine publisher Urpo Lahtinen, would be one of three. According to some sources there were three actual race cars, but some more were built. This one may have been of those.
