Plateau

A day of running around trying to organise appointments with various provincial government bods, ensuring all are well briefed ahead of Wednesday’s wider stakeholder meeting.

Evenings sometimes bring a chill in Lichinga, as it sits on a plateau and it’s the tail end of the cooler winter season in Southern Africa. Exploring the town we happened upon the building that at one time (and to this day?) housed the Associação dos Combatentes da Luta de Libertação Nacional (Association of Combatants of the Fight for National Liberation). I think every Mozambican province has one of these clusters, set up to recognise the role played by freedom fighters in protesting colonial rule and gaining independence from Portugal.
