Wine-making capital of Libourne ...
.. situated on the left bank of the Dordogne River around St. Emilion and Pomerol, two of Bordeaux's most elite wine regions, originally introduced to the region by the Romans.
.
Well we booked this holiday at the last minute to try to soak up some sunshine and bright blue skies. As you can see, that didn't really happen. But as we were mostly indoors it didn't matter. The tour guide at the vineyard was very knowledgeable of her subject at the vineyard/tasting and later at the underground monuments hewn from limestone, such as the 12th -century Saint-Emilion monolithic church ..
Although the underground visit was unique , the guide was too enthusiastic about her subject and most people in the group were overwhelmed with facts after more than an hour.
I don't have any blips of the underground monuments as it was forbidden to take photographs.
