Yorkshire rascals
Parkrun went well this morning. Even with regulars missing because they’re taking part in a massive relay race around Norfolk today and tomorrow, we had just over 100 people crossing the finish line.
The weather was perfect: sunny, not too hot and only a little bit of breeze. No incidents reported, and the funnel went like clockwork.
For reasons, we were encouraged by the electricity company that we’ve just switched to to use all the electricity between 1 pm and 2 pm today. I put the washing machine on – I’d have done a hot wash, but it was a thirty degree synthetics wash that was needed.
Mr Pandammonium decided he’d bake something; he settled on Yorkshire rascals. He started at 1:17 pm, which, it turned out was a bit too late. At least the oven preheated by 2 pm. The time pressure gave it the air of Bake Off, which, incidentally, starts a new series soon.
Yorkshire rascals are like scones, but flavoured with cinnamon and sweetened. They’re decorated with cherries and blanched almonds.
They tasted quite nice. I think I’d prefer a bit more cinnamon and no almonds.
We’ve just watched Clarkson, Hammond and May’s last big adventure together. Very fitting, and it shows how emotional people can get about their cars.
