Countdown to Cake

SATURDAY

I headed over to Holywell for the Greenfield Valley Parkrun which is essentially 2.5 km downhill and then a return climb with 100 metres elevation (see extra).

I was off to a good start and thought I might get a decent time until I was passed by the 28 minute pacer who slowly disappeared into the distance towards the finish. Undeterred, I kept going and even managed a brief spurt to the line. I finished in position 18 with an official time 27:48 and shaved 33 seconds off my PB on this tough course. (I still don't know why the 28 minute pacer finished around a minute earlier though).

Harriet and George arrived around midday and we had lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

This evening we drove over to Porth Eirias near Colwyn Bay for my pre-birthday dinner at Bryn Williams. It was thoroughly enjoyable with good company, good food and good service.

Back home now to catch up with the Last Night at the Proms.
