Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Don’t touch it, Archie!

A walk round the Links this morning. No - we met Abi, and came back with her for a coffee, before Archie and I set off again. We saw two big mushrooms, oozing black stuff - a photo was necessary, with a close up in Extras.

In the afternoon we went to visit Mary. Her daughter, Alice,  is visiting from Australia, so it was a very good catch up. Though Archie got a bit bored, as it turned not to be just a pop in, but full on sandwiches, cake, tea. Then bubbly!

Alice told us about a relative’s property in Orkney, which they sold years ago, which became the famous ‘ Ness of Brodgar’ dig. It has turned out to be one of the most important Neolithic digs in the world today! It has just recently closed, and is being quietly re-buried, to be opened again in maybe 100 years. They have SO many artefacts it’ll take years to examine and catalogue.
