Several steps forward
I went for a little walk, the first time since I broke my toe almost two weeks ago.
In the last two weeks I couldn't even tolerate wearing socks, not to talk about shoes. Any pressure on the toe was painful. Flip-flops all day, even in the rain. Or barefoot (I don't know why that wasn't painful).
Today I tried my (new) barefoot shoes. They give your toes room - so much room, that the broken toe kept quiet!
I thought I could give a little walk a try. And it worked!
In the main photo my car in the distance. At that point I was already thinking about going back and not overdoing it. But I felt good and kept on going.
First extra powerlines and pylons over an empty field.
Second extra the barfoot shoes. The most funny thing is that I was advised to wear shoes with stiff soles for several weeks - the barefoot shoes are the opposite. I watched every single step, the first ones on concrete. When I became braver I walked over grass and natural paths. 2,5 km altogether. Two benches along the way, but they didn't keep me seated for long. I can barely believe it myself. I hope I won't regret it tomorrow.
They say you should get used to barefoot shoes slowly. I had not the slightest problem (and not only the toe, but also the knee is still quiet now that I sit here typing).
Cycling is the next step - but that will clearly take some more time.
