Flower Festival
Flowers and woodwork..
quite the match made in heaven:-)
Flower Festival.
Mr KCNQ2Haiku had a bike ride this morning and Ben, Leo and I had a little walk and did some shopping. All quite low key. Then this afternoon Mr KCNQ2Haiku had Ben for a bit whilst I popped into the village church to have a look at their flower festival. It was lovely, there were approximately ten stations with beautiful displays and decorations, each one had a theme like woodwork or tapestry.. and the flowers were arranged around items to do with the theme, all linked to local families' skills and interests. This one was Woodwork and showed different techniques such as carving and pyrography. There was a little card describing each item and I was particularly taken with the fish and chain which was all carved by hand from one piece of wood, the note said it was crafted by the local's great grandfather for their great grandmother as a gift, isn't that a lovely piece of history. I was also impressed by the display on Stick Heads by someone whose husband used to craft walking sticks, with bespoke handles, very interesting. So anyway, that was the highlight of my day but it did mean I had to spend some time being Chatty which wears me out! Time for a lie down!
