Not a day to go out. Wet, windy and none too warm.  I spent it reading a slushy sentimental American novel by Mrs Gene Stratton-Porter who wrote at the start of the 20th century. I think her most famous books were Girl of the Limberlost and Michael O'Halleran. My cousins had half of the second title which I read it when I was about nine or ten and have collected other titles over the years.
