Martin and the Savanna Glider
It's been a brilliant day!
Martin and I hired a car so we could drive the 45 km to Territory Wildlife Park. We saw the Pelicans having a fishy breakfast, watched a display of raptors, and viewed huge whip rays and barramundi being fed smaller fish by a keeper who was actually standing in the pool with them. There were excellent walk through aviaries containing native birds.
However, most excitingly we were able to enter the nocturnal house and help feed the ten savanna gliders ( flying squirrels). They are real sugar addicts, and scrambled all over us to get sugar solution from the syringes we held. You can see Martin is enjoying the experience! One glider even landed on his head.
This evening we went to the theatre in Darwin with Alison and Peter to see a play called The Visitors about the Aborigines response to seeing the first European arrivals in their land.
A full day but a good one.
