OFF TO FRANCE
As a child I went to Dieppe on a school trip and have longed to return. This year The Rev heard my request and so as a surprise he arranged the trip.
We left our BnB at 8 and got to the ferry. We parked the car for £5 a day. (It was now I found out we were going for 2 nights!!)
I can’t remember the last time I was a foot passenger on a ferry across the channel.
We got breakfast and then found a comfy seat for the journey.
tip for another time go straight to level 7 to the cafe and nice seating!
#It had started out chilly but ended up being a glorious day.
We were going to walk to the hotel but ordered a cab when we found out the short way (20mins) via the bridge was shut.
There were several people waiting for a taxi so when one arrived we all went to it. As we didn’t have cash we needed to go via an ATM. But a kind man offered to pay for the taxi and we’d share the ride.
Once checked in to our gorgeous hotel we had a walk around the town.
#the view from the hotel terrace.
We stopped for a drink and tarte aux pommes and later the inevitable ice cream on the beach.
The history on the beach is tragic where during WW2 100s of Canadians lost their lives or were taken prisoner.
#In the evening we went all out on the French cuisine.
#and ended our day with a dip in the pool and a sauna.
What a fabulous but long monthiversary!!!
