'By Any Other Name'...

...A Rose...

Started out cerise, went black and white and then a red photo filter added to make it pink....

Look in LARGE at the tiny dew drops!

I had planned to spend good money on going to Mottisfont Abbey, a local National Trust property with their famous walled rose garden. I went there two years one month ago when the roses were at their peak. I've now realised that they would now be beyond their best, so that plan was abandoned.

So, here was I, at sunrise, trying to find decent blooms left at the side of a busy roundabout. The council had planted many lovely blooms, but the too frequent delivery lorries blew them away from my Tamron 90mm macro lens. I also felt that every driver was thinking what a fleb I was and so a nice, protected, quiet private garden seemed very welcome.

Never mind, some 78 images, mostly at life-size of the centre of blooms, bits of petals and blurry arty ones and trying to keep the camera still at often awkward angles and I'd had enough! I skipped the arty ones in favour of this, the perfect (to me) bloom appealed but I wanted something more creative than a straight shot, hence the monochrome conversion.

Tomorrow is (apparently) my birthday and my Blip may just be something very average, possibly late etc. It will be spent with the family, so may well be a pet portrait or something similar. It's not a birthday of particular note, I hasten to add.

Thanks to ALL who helped get my Beach Hut Blip of yesterday well up into the Spotlight - as always, it's really appreciated.
