A Present For My Sister

I visited my sister today and took her some Sarah Nelson's Grasmere Gingerbread bought from the Grasmere Gingerbread shop.  Victorian cook Sarah Nelson invented the gingerbread in 1854.  It is a cross between a biscuit and a cake.  The gingerbread is still produced in what was Sarah Nelson's home.  The smell as you pass the shop is divine and makes you want to buy some.  I did buy some for Mr YB and I too and we are having it with our afternoon cuppa.
