a lifetime burning

There were huge smiles and great relief last night when we finally got the good news that our daughter-in-law Katie had been successfully delivered of our first grandchild by C-section.  It's been a pretty gruelling few days for her and James as the baby was overdue and the cesarian followed a failed attempt at inducing the birth.  Still all is well that ends well and young Ethan arrived yesterday to the great joy of the family.  James has already stepped up to his responsibilities already and changed the baby's first nappy :-)

So I'm now a Grandad - and very much looking forward to being able to meet young Ethan as soon as that's possible.

In the meantime today's blip is a focus stack of an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar happily munching its way through a fuchsia in the garden.  It wasn't an easy shot to get as it wasn't prepared to keep still while its portrait was being taken.  But it is my best attempt at stacking a live subject to date I think.
