En guard!
A driving day. Set off at 9.30am (having had a better sleep and not rushing to get up), and had an uneventful trip south. Stopped twice for coffee and a sandwich then for a power nap (20 minutes that felt like a lot longer!) and a cup of tea, and listened all the way to our next book group book, ‘Missing, Presumed’ by Susie Steiner which kept me interested and entertained all the way, and also had a chat to T about job options and gardening in the rain.
When I arrived at Mt&H’s it was straight into the hurly burly of chat and play with the kids. They’ve started going to fencing so Mx was keen to show me how to do it, then play piano for me, AR wanted to show me a gymnastics routine and some Lego she’s building. Chatting when we could get a word in edgeways with Mt&H about holidays, family, work, cat flap fitting and dog injuries.
Kids had some pasta for their supper whilst Mt made some delicious paneer curry for us and I picked apples from their tree and made a crumble for them.
Mx read me a story at bedtime about Hercules and explained to me about what myths were, AR practised her times tables whilst she had a shower and then we sat down with some tea and dessert for more chat and catch up time, about applying for courses and options for Christmas (H said she starts thinking about it as soon as it starts getting dark and chilly!).
