Holst

I’ve been meaning to go to Gustav Holst’s  birthplace in Cheltenham for years. I made it today. ( I’d gone there to buy a cycling jacket but that’s another story. )
The House where he was born in 1874 , it is the 150th anniversary of his birth this year, has been slightly rebadged as a  Victorian Cheltenham house. It is a fascinating and beautiful four storey town house with many original features . This is his Piano. A Collard and Collard.
He came from a family of several generations of Musicians and is of Swedish German and Latvian descent.
In the extra, a harp belonging to Gustav’s father.
He is best known for his Planets Suite
