Sun again
Our friend whose civil partnerships ceremony we were at back in April phoned me yesterday to say he was over for a few days and to suggest meeting today. I readily agreed.
He was staying with his folks in Malahide, so it made sense to meet him there, which I did at 3:00 pm. We began our time together at Malahide Castle. Well, actually all we did there was stop off at the new Avoca shop and café for the most expensive bowl of soup and scone and a couple of coffees imaginable. The pain of the prices was offset by the experience of sitting in the sun at a table on the beautiful open-air terrace. I'd never seen this area before, but will certainly go back (maybe I'll just get a glass of tap water next time).
(The blip was taken on the Avoca terrace.)
After a few days of overcast skies it was a lovely bonus to welcome back the sun and unspoilt blue sky today, so it was only right to continue on from the Castle to the beach for a lump of laziness and some great chat. After that we had a bite to eat in McGovern's restaurant in the centre of Malahide. We had a lovely bite to eat in what must be the best-located eatery in the village of Malahide.
I dropped Cathal back to his folks' place where his mum fed us home-made tart and ice cream and coffee. I got back home around 10:30 pm after a really enjoyable day.
