Kookaburra

What a surprise to wander down to the back garden and find a kookaburra perched on the Hills Hoist (iconic Aussie rotary clothesline). As it sat there, I had a strong inkling that if I went back inside to fetch my camera it would still be there when I returned. I was right.

I think this is a young one, judging by the little fluffy feathers coming out of it. It was looking for food, its sharp eye surveying the ground with determination. I think I might have cramped its style because it had become aware of me and finally flew off. 

I hope it comes back but rest assured, I won't feed it.
