Look Out

Omega

Day 3 of the kitchen project and the first of 3 days of preparatory works. In between making cups of tea I got on with other things (not as many as I had anticipated, lots of chat with I today).

Which took me at one point to M&S for some new shoes. On a more circuitous route home I had a look at Omega North, which now houses some gigantic sheds located adjacent to the M62. Omega South on the other side of the motorway is even bigger. Both locations occupy part of what had been RAF Burtonwood, which was a huge American military airbase (the largest in Europe) during the Second World War and then again during the Cold War. The M62 follows the line of the main runway. There is now no evidence that this was ever an airbase, although the name of the road I am parked on is a clue - Lockheed Way.

Apparently 7500 Warrington girls married GI’s, so a lot of Warrington families have relatives “over the pond”. They include the neighbours who invited me over for a meal tonight.
