Metro Mosh Pit

The Great North Run. One of the biggest half marathon events in the world.
The Metro is to Newcastle-upon-Tyne as the Metro is to Paris, an efficient public transport system.
On one day a year, possibly more, it is rammed to beyond capacity. Great North Run day.
One person described it as tighter than the central line (London Underground) on a Monday morning. This photo was taken as we rode an escalator out of the station. I could not get my hand up from waist height on the train itself. One person pushing his bag in to a small gap at somebody else's feet to allow him room to squeeze on too.
I have had more room in concert mosh pits.
It did the job though, 30 minutes of covid special from outskirts to centre. Well done Newcastle, cracking event organisation. No sarcasm, a true Northern friendly welcome.
