Portsmouth Harbour

Some cleaning and a walk along the seafront with a coffee from The Dell café was followed by another walk up the pier for the 2:45 pm ferry. At Portsmouth, I shopped at Gunwharf Quays and walked away with new Skechers and some trousers. I hadn't planned on buying anything.

At 3:34 pm, we entered the Spinnaker Tower. Last year, I received an experience voucher. I forget if it was for Christmas or my birthday. We had planned to use it for a night in Bristol at Christmas. We've already had lunch at Mr White's in Leicester Square as there was a 'change' from the original booking. When I came to confirm the hotel, they no longer accepted the vouchers, so I changed it to another hotel and, again, had additional credits to use. So, I booked afternoon tea at the Spinnaker Tower, and I'm delighted I did.

The morning had been rainy, and the forecast promised thunder by the time we'd reached the viewing level 100m above the ground, with beautiful views across the Portsmouth Dockyards and The Solent to the Isle of Wight.

When we were called to the afternoon tea, we had a table at the window where I watched the car ferries, hovercraft, and FastCats make their way to and from the Island. There were plenty of small boats enjoying the calm waters, too. The tea was great: sandwiches, scones and cakes. I managed to demolish all my food. PY brought a cake home that was eaten at the end of the day.

It was a great way to spend an afternoon, and I am delighted I found it an option to use the voucher. The train was 6:32 pm.
