In the 16th century, Bideford was Britain's third largest port, trading in wool and tobacco. Affectionately known as 'the little white town' and sitting on the river Torridge, it mostly now relies on a nearby shipyard and tourism for employment. 
This view shows the 16th century bridge, the quay and some houseboats.
