Bridge Repair

This bridge is the oldest, constantly-used, span in the state.  It's part of the National Road, the only road funded entirely by the federal government.  In the 1810's they decided a road to the edge of the country was necessary for drawing people into the wilderness so they could pay taxes.
The original stones used to construct the bridge have been saved but it's likely they will only be used as a cover for the new, safety  complaint bridge.
The people of the area fought long and hard to prevent the rehabilitation but, in the end, modern safety rules held sway.  It will LOOK like the old one but that'll be only a facade.
