Birthday Boys!

We were up early as granddaughter Amelia helped me open birthday cards and presents. This made us run late and we left to take her to school without me having breakfast! After taking her to school, we stopped at a roadside van and I enjoyed a lovely bacon roll. It brought back memories of my work days when we used the same van only they now take payment by cards!

At 10.30am we arrived at Staverton (Wiltshire, UK) to cycle the canal to Devizes Marina with our friends Steve and Julia. After a few miles we stopped at Caen Hill Lock Flight ( a series of 16 locks together) cafe where Steve's wife treated me and her husband to sponge cake with our coffee. Steve shares the same birthday (not the year!).

By the time we'd arrived back at the car at 3pm we'd covered 25 miles and after a bfrew up at the car, the rain started!

A great way for me and Steve to celebrate our birthdays, and a good one for me to mark the date I now start getting my state pension!  Yippee!
