Beam engine, and dog!

A chilly day, but dry and mostly sunny. All our layers on and we went to see the lead mining museum etc at Wanlockhead.  Typically, we have once again chosen a day when the place we wanted to see,  was closed! We do this with unfailing regularity! Yes, it is open in September, but not on a Monday! Still, there were walks signposted and huge industrial workings to examine, windows to peer through and various large pieces of rusting machinery outside for us to admire.

There were lots of interesting information boards and everything was well explained and illustrated.
It wasn't warm and even with all our layers on, we had to keep moving!

We settled down to a cosy evening in the van, Mike with his Sudoku and me with my knitting, with some wine and taco crisps. The weather was foul. Torrential rain and strong winds all night long. So glad we now have a van which has all its own facilities on board! Extra of the van before the weather turned.
