What I've Done

Max's Bench

Kerry Irvine, owner of the Famous (Late) Max and Paddy dogs, broadcast a lot of his blogs from this bench at the side of Derwentwater. I scattered a past guest's ashes here a few months ago.

Whilst this scene looks fairly tranquil and idyllic, to the right of the bench was an Asda carrier bag full of rubbish, in front, a used disposable barbecue sat in the middle of a pile of burned, blackened logs - the remnants of a camp fire. Over the edge of the bank was another used disposable barbecue and around the area were a further three areas where fires had been lit.

Saddened and horrified. Why have British people lost all respect for the areas they visit. I think I'm more incensed because the Dolomites were so spectacularly clean, tidy and respected by all visitors.
