Estany de Neych
Guest blip from S because I couldn't resist his photo of the Estany de Neych. The weather was lovely at this point, but on their way down the clouds rolled in and they got soaked.
He got back at 7 pm; we were invited to the Ancien Café at 6 for a small party to celebrate the 50 years German brothers A and M have been in the village (neither is here full time, but they do spend a lot of time here). It was a very small party when I arrived at 6:30 -- four people, including M, who was complaining that A had invited people and then not turned up himself. So we guests busied ourselves slicing salami and putting out bowls of olives and other nibbles. Proof that I did take a photo in extras.
A did show up eventually, not long before S. There were about a dozen of us in the end, for a relaxed evening of food, wine, and chat. Several of the tables have photos under glass from the last 50 years (see extra), and there were also some great framed enlargements on the wall, notably the three brothers standing on the pile of rubble from which they reconstructed the bergerie, hammers and pickaxes in hand and looking like a rock band. It's a pity this old cafe doesn't get used more often; it's a lovely space.
