Read Through

I was pleasantly surprised to find that after yesterday’s exertions on the bike, whilst my thighs felt as solid as an overcompensated handshake, they were no where near as painful and I was able to move quite freely.

Sadly those movements were limited to a bit of tidying up, putting a wash on and making a sausage and bacon sandwich. Oh, I did wander into town to purchase some new underwear for the wee ones as they still seem to be wearing stuff from a couple of years ago. Yes, as you can tell, it was a helluva morning!

There was a bit of downtime before heading out for the day’s main event which was a first read through of January 2025’s panto……I forget which one it is……

It also happens to be the group’s 50th, so the director is intent on making it go off with a bang.

It was great to see the regulars there (although there was one notable absence due to illness) and nice to sit between ayearinthelife and my father (who had the bare-faced cheek to read for the role I wanted - shocking!)

What was really great to see was the amount of youngsters there. Speaking with one of the mums, we agreed that getting them up on stage in a group of their peers was so good for their confidence.

Unfortunately, there were wayyyyyyy more people there than there are roles on offer and with another read through booked for Wednesday, it’s inevitable that some will not make the cut. I just hope that I’m not one of them.

Dad did read rather well…….
