Hen Party in Edinburgh

It was another beautiful morning here in Perth as I got ready to get the bus to Edinburgh at 10:00 am to join up with 11 other ladies for C (Catherine's) hen party.  I had my sunnies on as I sat in the front seat of the coach.  But very soon, around Kinross, it started to get so overcast and then the dam rain started!  What the hell is it with the East Coast mist, and cold!  Coming from the sun to the grey and cold is awful.

Met up with G and Zoe at St Andrew's square where we were meeting the others, mostly from Newcastle area, to join the red double decker bus for Afternoon tea as it drove round Edinburgh.  Its quite a touristy thing to do as it drives past the landmarks.  The AT itself wasn't too bad but the woman that did the commentary, and the tinny music she played wasn't so good!

We got off it and then headed to Lady Libertines for cocktails.  It's so dark in these places down the stairs.  I sound like a right boring old fart.  I'm never out in these places now so it was a bit of a cultural shock.

Zoe, G and I walked round to the Travelodge near the World's End bar to check in.  I've not stayed in a travelodge before but it was pretty basic.  Can't believe a hotel uses shower curtains, and dark so it can't show up stains!  The shower head was at the top of the ceiling with no hand held bit so tough if you don't want to wash your hair.  and this was 200 quid a night - jeepers.

Next up was a cocktail making thing in a pub called the Cauldron - total rip off.  Forty five quid for basically two cocktails that you have no idea what is in them.  I actually didn't pay for this as I don't drink alcohol so didn't see the point but someone had backed out so I got pulled in.  there was already a tip taken off when we paid upfront but they gave a suggestion that we give 15% more.  No.  The girl we had was not good.  We had fun there but again it was so dark you couldn't see the 'spell book' to make up the cocktails.  And again some music that was too loud haha (showing age again).

Next they were going to Fayreplay but I was getting bus home at 8:30.  We took some photos.

It was great to see C and pend time with her but G, Zoe and I thought it would have been better to have sat down with a nice meal somewhere instead of all the back and forward to different places.  Seems like this is what they do in Newcastle.  I'd have preferred all in one place and my hair wouldn't have been a frizzy mess LOL!

Bus home was uneventful.  Apart from when i sneezed twice when the bus was stopped at Halbeath the driver went to the overhead ledge and brought down a roll of toilet roll that handed it to me to wipe my nose (I was just going for my own tissue).  Was funny.

(ps the five of us were colleagues at SSE but only one remains)
