Green Shield

Yesterday, over a coffee on our trip to Wisley, the subject of runner beans came up.

“I’ve had one,” I said. “There were three but when I went back to pick them, there was only one left.”

“I’ve had two,” said my friend.

“And I’ve had three.”

Strangely that made me feel better. I know I was the one who killed Spider plants when I was at university. (not deliberately). The dearth of delicious runner beans to have with my pasta is not definite proof that I have not improved over the years ?

Why my green shield bug ? I’ve seen a few on the well grown leaves so I’m wondering  if they are my poachers……..the phrase green shield stamps takes on a whole new meaning.
