Bird Hopper
Not to be confused with the American Lubber grasshopper, a large flightless beast that totally creeps me out, this is an American Bird Grasshopper, so called because they are strong fliers and can fly long distances. They are native to North America; eastern U.S., Mexico and the Bahamas. This one was enjoying a bit of a rest on our garage screen. Grasshopper Fun Fact: Grasshoppers have been chewing their way through our planet's flora since back in the early Triassic, around 250 million years ago.
