It's Controversial

This statue stands in a square in Lochgelly; it represents a miner to honour the strong men who hewed coal in this area in the past and inscribed on the pit props he holds up is this poem:

God is a miner
for aye is his shift
heezan his graith, he howks i the
luift

God is a miner,
thrang at his work
Stars are the aizles he caws i the
mirk.

Not all the folk in Lohgelly believe this work of art represents the miner.
A young man passing as I took the picture said, "Dinnae pit that in the paper - it's no like a miner, ma dad was yin".
