Friday

A warm, damp but beautiful morning. Not a breath of wind, nature seemed to be snoozing in ecstasy. Bella, Reggie, patch and Dippy enjoyed their early morning stomp and stick retrieving session which included some very steep hill sprints;)
I picked and ate my daily dose of blackberries, a few field mushrooms are starting to pop up here and there.
Woodpecker, wrens, pheasants, gulls, buzzards, jackdaws, swallows, robins and sparrows being the only birds that we saw or heard.
After saying cheerio to some glampers I dropped Dippy off at a friend’s house whose daughter is struggling to cope with school after a family break up. It was a delight to see her face and Dippy was fine form being kind and playful.
I collected my post from town before heading to RHS Rosemoor for a breakfast nap (delicious) and warm beverage. The rain had settled into a steady but pleasant flow but not torrential and so we decided against umbrellas and rain jackets. The flower beds were looking and smelling delightful, fruit and vegetables were growing in abundance. I rescued some windfall Bramley apples whilst we sampled a few of the many varieties of eating apples. Runner beans were in a perfect place to be sampled and tasted as good as they looked.
The surrounding woodland oozed earthy goodness and perhaps hints of autumnal mists and mellow fruitfulness. The trees themselves show very little sign of colour change and I suppose September has only just arrived. The much needed rain seems to have awakened the beautiful landscaped lawns and gardens to make a vibrant and peaceful place for the few that were serenely wandering around.
A cup of peppermint tea to round off a memorable visit to this popular destination.
Back to base via Dippy’s new dig sitters and Braunton to complete the purchase of an interesting purchase designed for transport (watch this space)!
Supper was followed by a couple of ginger beers in the Wayfarer before hitting the pillow.
