Unforgettable? I hope not.
Hi!
I haven't posted for a while, been concentrating on surviving Edinburgh during the summer's dual affronts of crappy weather and over-tourism, plus the zillions of would-be actors and comedians who persist in harrassing the locals, clogging up our “Prime” shopping street and it's environs.
Quite why so many visitors wish to come here, throughout the year, in greater or lesser numbers, dependant on the season, I do not know.
On second thoughts, I do. It must be for the shopping, given the wonderful array of high end shops on Princes Street, once one of the most beautiful streets in the western world. The collage includes views of a sophisticated and well maintained cash dispenser together with the facades of the best retailers.
You may think that such classy emporia would attract the most discerning clientèle, so to divest you of such delusions, my extra today perhaps tells a different story.
Another scourge of the city centre is the myriad of “Just Eat” and “Deliveroo” E-Bikes, mainly of the unregulated, over-powered and hence illegal types, ridden by guys who in the main go to great lengths to hide their identity. Why so?
Time to get off of my high horse, for fear of upsetting any of my readers.
Off on holiday next week, so watch this space for more mundane trivia, of a foreign kind. (I'm being a tourist for the warmth, both of the weather and the good people of Croatia, where I believe inflation has been more destructive of the tourist trade than in Auld Reekie.)
PS: Where have all the Romas gone, long time beggars?
Ah, it's Friday, so they will be having an afternoon off, to attend to the needs of their Gang Masters
