the rise of the hall of Usher

By my reckoning they have until 19:00 on the 14th of August to get the Usher Hall finished if they want to get it finished in time for the first gig of the festival. Last year the combination of wooden temporary walkways and steps, carpet and lots of rain meant that a few codgers were wibbling a bit on their way in and out. I hope the improvements haven't knackered the nice old tiled stairwell at the south by which the upper circle was accessed. Hopefully now that they've almost finished the outside they'll sort out the acoustics on the inside.

I had some training in a nice, bright room on the fifth floor with a marvellous view of the Usher Hall's roof this morning but the mankiness of the window would have prevented the clarity of shot necessary for the new larger world. Another missed shot was four other co-attendees looking out of the window in the corridor attempting to work out which building they could see the top of over the roof of the Picture House; the light was just catching their heads from the side and the castle could be seen beyond them but my camera was in my bag in the room and they soon moved. Might have to stage it sometime if sufficient colleagues can be persuaded to go up three floors and assemble quickly enough to avoid attention from people who might seek to prevent such assemblages.

Looking for Eric popped to this evening before it disappeared. Rather good, even to those who loathe football.
