You certainly did.

At Middleton Lakes RSPB reserve they’ve fenced off my usual vantage point. Seats, a good view over the lake, and places to put seed. There are very few seats there and if I can’t pause here, I’m struggling.

I ducked under the tape and sat down. First the birds came (in smaller numbers today. Merlin heard a Firecrest but I think he was lying.) I watched a heron on the lake in the distance.

Then the squirrel arrived. A picture of innocence. But totally brazen. A look that said, “Woman, can’t you read the word closed ?”

RSPB……please put more seats around so that we old fogies can pause awhile.
