Thursday

I slept deeply and felt exceptionally good on waking. Dippy was still snoring but soon sprung into action when the kettle whistled as it reached boiling point.
Hens, peacocks and bantams were all safely fed and watered before Breakfast of fruit and a berry tea.
A nice chat with one of the glampers who was staying in the Bus here, she said that the shower of rain on the bus roof was so loud but really relaxing. They don’t want to leave here, quite a common quote.
A lovely walk around the stubble field and onto the fields below where I found this delightful little tricycle in the undergrowth.
The rain then started in earnest and welcome it was too!
Appledore and the Market Street kitchen was the venue for a light lunch with a fisherman friend who had been out in the estuary with clients and drawn a blank. A cream tea and chai latte for me, a doorstep bacon buttie for Martin. Dippy entertained as per usual with his impeccable behaviour and manners at the table.
A visit to the fish docks resulted in some fun grabbing a bargain purchase of some locally caught pollack for a bbq this coming weekend.
Back to base to find a couple of brave campers setting up camp in the wind and rain, they were in good spirits and were adamant that they wouldn’t need to resort to the barn as their tent was up to the prevailing weather conditions.
Down to the Westleigh Inn with H and B to collect some pigswill and a ginger beer.
Fortunately the rain had eased and the high tide down below looked stunning in the early evening light.
Back to the warm farmhouse kitchen and some banter around the table whilst enjoying an ovaltine and entertainment from six collie dogs with ages ranging from 11 years old to less than six months.
Zzzzzz
