Sour Grapes

As I won’t have time tomorrow, I went to see my mother for lunch today. Her carer E had cooked pasta with a yummy vegan Bolognese sauce. Even though my mother doesn’t remember being a vegetarian anymore, I am asking her carers to cook vegetarian food for her. They often ask for meat dishes for themselves, though, and we are trying to find compromises - like Bolognese made with a soy based meat substitute.

These grapes are growing under my mother’s pergola, and they are looking almost ripe. But when I tried one, it was like biting into a tiny lemon. We’ll have to wait another couple of weeks before we can pick them. I’m looking forward to that day, as all the grapes in our own garden have disappeared. I hope the birds and the wasps did enjoy their meal.
