Door
Another stint at YorkGate for me this afternoon.
Parked my car in the bay next to Adel Church which is opposite.
Did this so l couldn’t blip the arch on the church.
Probably one of the oldest arches in the Britain.
Grade l listed.
Built in Norman times and completed in 1160, the carvings in the Chancel Arch remain very sharp.
The 13th C door has a replacement sanctuary ring as the original was stolen in 2002 , l can remember that happening and the original was never traced.
A brisk couple of hours with a steady stream of visitors, often down to only one parking space before we were full but thankfully that situation was avoided.
Lemon, almond with blueberries gluten free cake and a flat white was my choice of refreshments today, brought half of the cake home to eat later.
No free plants left for the moment but l was told to help myself to some compost to take home to put a mulch on some of my pots.
