Bilbao Guggenheim
The whole ship got the wake-up call at 5.45 for breakfast and then all in our vehicles ready for leaving. Very efficiently organised by the ship and port so quickly on our way. We headed straight for a site on the outskirts of Bilbao and, after a quick cup of tea, took the bus into the city for a look round the Guggenheim Museum.
Fascinating architecture which certainly makes a statement and puts this city on the world map. The art inside it was .... 'interesting'! All very modern. Some we found pleasant and understandable but most, we think, fell into the 'Emperor's New Clothes' category and the descriptions that went along with them were some of the best creative writing we've ever seen!!! We had several amusing discussions with complete strangers about these.
Heading into the city we bumped into our new 'friends' from the ferry whale-watching, so ended up in a bar with them for a while. They are both retired GPs and are on the same site as us tonight moving on tomorrow; strange that we may never meet again!
We are in Bilbao for another day before moving on.
