I know we'll make it anywhere

After a visit to Barter Books.  8 New books for 2.50.   Not bad eh?

Once a year we take a lump of our books down to barter,  wander around while they value them, and then turn up at the counter to be pleasantly surprised.

That done, we headed north again for Lindisfarne.

The Lindsfarne Festival was on and there were hundreds of cars and buses coming up the road from this side of the causeway.

We crossed at  11.30 and stopped at the Snoop.   The Snoop opens up past the sand dunes to the BIGGEST Beach in the world.    I couldn't see either end of it.

We walked from the dunes to a log, and then realised there was another beach the same distance at the other side, followed by another sand bank, and then another beach  (I'm distinguishing sandbanks, as being white sandy beaches, with wet, damp sand beaches.  (So we started on white sandy beach, walked across damp sand, got to Fallen Tree, walked across wet sand, I lay down on White sand, while Si walked on - Then I scrambled up from my sand searching and walked another wet beach down to the water.

We seen six people on the beach in the hour we were there.   Where do people go?  Why don't they go to the beach.

Then we crossed.  Parked right outside the hotel and went for a coffee til Check in.

We had a new room this time.  We've been in 1 twice, 4 once, and now 3.  We won't go to 2, because it's dog friendly, and no matter how good the cleaning I will still sneeze.

We had a nap.  Naps are very important for me when  holidaying.

Then we woke and went downstairs to be welcomed by Dave, who owned the BB we first stayed at., and he remembered us.  That time, we went out for dinner to the Crown and Anchor, and decided if we came back, we would stay there.  Dinner is always lush.

It was again this time.   I had Salmon marinaded in Lindisfarne Gin, with beetroot and dill cream.  The Dill Cream itself had me in paroxyms of joy.    Si had Prawn Tempura, except - it was Panko, rather than tempura batter.    These Prawns had balls. They were the biggest meatiest prawns in the world.

Then I had sea bass, with broccoli, new potatoes and mustard sauce.  Si had Lamb cutlets.  oh my god. it was LUSH.    we finished with Drunk Afogato, full of amaretto.

Then we drunk loads of the salmon soaking gin, and then had to go to bed.

In other news.

Boy  & Jess commenced their ascent of Kilimanjaro.  We're not going to hear from them until it's done and they are back down.  But Boy and I have agreed to wave to each other at SunRise on Kilimanjaro on 7th September, when they are expected to reach the summit.  He will be waving North West, I will be waving South East.

He will be on the tallest Single Standing Mountain in the world.  I will be hanging out of the bed room window.  at 4.20 Am  ( his sunrise is 620 in Tanzania, mine will be at 620 also - but since he is two hours ahead I have to get up early.
